There is no universally recommended service interval for eyewear. Whether, and how often, your glasses should be checked by a qualified optician depends on their age, as well as how frequently and intensively they are worn. From time to time, your optician can professionally clean, polish and refresh your frame. They will also check that your glasses fit perfectly and adjust them if necessary.

To enjoy your Lunor frames for many years to come, take good care of them and clean them regularly. From time to time, bring them to your optician for a check, a professional clean and, if needed, a readjustment to ensure the best possible comfort. Please do not attempt to repair your frames yourself, tighten screws or make similar adjustments. Your optician has the experience and the right tools. Avoid exposing your frames to extreme temperatures or harsh substances such as cleaning agents, chlorine or salt water.

Clean your Lunor acetate frame regularly with the cloth provided, or another suitable soft lens cloth. You can also rinse the frame under clean water and, if needed, use a little pH-neutral washing-up liquid.

If you have a matte Lunor acetate frame, always apply the complimentary care cream after cleaning. Take care to avoid the lenses. If you do not have the care cream to hand, you can also use a mild, fragrance-free hand cream. The care cream is available free of charge from your Lunor partner optician.

All Lunor acetate frames are made from high-quality cotton-based acetate. With daily wear and contact with the skin, perspiration, make-up and similar substances, the material may discolour or change shape over time. Wherever possible, avoid exposing your glasses to high temperatures, such as in a sauna or on a car dashboard, and keep them away from salt water, chlorinated water and other aggressive substances. If your frame has become misshapen or shows any build-up, an optician can restore it to impeccable condition with professional cleaning and adjustment.

Stainless steel is an exceptionally durable material that will give you many years of wear. It is ideally suited to allergy sufferers and is electroplated or lacquered by us to be completely nickel-free. Cleaning your stainless steel frame is very straightforward. Simply clean it regularly with the cloth provided. From time to time, you can rinse your frame under clean water and, if necessary, use a little pH-neutral washing-up liquid. Afterwards, be sure to dry the frame carefully and gently with a soft cloth.

Titanium is exceptionally light, yet strong, resilient and flexible. It is the metal of choice for many allergy sufferers, as it is nickel-free and hypoallergenic. Titanium is also biocompatible, recyclable and therefore a particularly environmentally friendly material. Cleaning your titanium frame is very straightforward. Use the cleaning cloth supplied to wipe it regularly. From time to time, you can wash your frame under clean water and, if necessary, with a little pH-neutral dish soap. Afterwards, dry the frame carefully and gently with a soft cloth.

How you care for your natural horn frame depends on how often you wear it and the conditions it is exposed to. Your buffalo horn frame comes with a special care cream. If the horn begins to feel dry, apply a thin layer of the cream. You can tell the horn is dry when it loses some of its lustre and the surface feels rough to the touch. Take care to avoid the lenses when applying the cream. Then gently polish the frame with a soft cloth to help preserve its shine and value for years to come.

You can use the enclosed microfibre cloth to clean your lenses. To avoid scratches, make sure both the lenses and the cloth are free from dust and dirt beforehand. If you wish to clean the lenses with moisture, use only a slightly damp microfibre cloth. Avoid cleaning them under running water.

Your optician will, of course, be happy to help with cleaning both your frame and lenses. We recommend having your horn glasses professionally polished and checked from time to time.

Please note that excessive heat, moisture or harsh cleaning agents can damage your horn glasses. Never use an ultrasonic bath to clean the frame. Do not bend the frame yourself or place it under pressure or weight.

If white marks appear on your glasses, they are most likely the result of a normal reaction to natural substances produced by your skin, such as perspiration. We place great importance on the quality of our frames and use premium cotton acetate from Italy for our acetate models. Cotton acetate is a natural material made primarily of cotton (60–80%). Our matt frames are given their characteristic velvety surface through a special process similar to sandblasting. This surface structure can hold particles such as skin cells and perspiration, which is why matt acetate frames are more prone to white marks than polished frames. Proper care is essential to keep your matt Lunor glasses looking their best and to ensure their longevity. We recommend cleaning the frame regularly with clear water and, if needed, a mild pH-neutral soap. Afterwards, you can apply a special Lunor care cream for matt frames, available free of charge from your optician. Alternatively, you may use an unscented hand cream. Tip: Your optician can restore your frame with a professional cleaning and, if necessary, polishing.

As a specialist, your optician is best placed to help and will usually have the right tools and spare parts to hand. If required, they can also order spare parts from us. Most importantly, they will ensure your glasses are perfectly adjusted to you again after the repair. Please note that we do not carry out repairs ourselves and do not send spare parts directly to end customers.
