My glasses are broken—what can I do?2023-06-27T15:13:20+00:00

It is best to contact the optician from whom you purchased your glasses. Your optician will offer you professional support and usually has the correct tools and replacement parts at hand. If necessary, your optician can also order replacement parts directly from us. And the best part is: they will ensure, after the repairs, that your glasses are perfectly adjusted for you once again. Please note that we do not offer repairs and do not send replacement parts directly to customers.

My glasses have white stains – what should I do?2023-06-29T09:25:09+00:00

If your glasses have white stains, this is most likely due to a normal reaction to the natural excretions of your skin, such as sweat.

The quality of our frames is important to us and we use premium cellulose acetate from Italy for our acetate frames. Cellulose acetate is a natural material that is mostly (60-80%) made of cellulose. Our matt eyeglass frames get their characteristic velvet matt surface through a special process which is similar to sandblasting. The structure of the surface offers deposit areas for particle such as skin cells and sweat, which is why matt acetate frames are more prone to white stains than glossy frames.

The care of your matt Lunor glasses is crucial to ensure the best vision and longevity possible. We recommend cleaning the frames regularly with clear water and, if necessary, a mild pH-neutral soap. Afterwards, a special Lunor care cream for matt frames, which can be obtained for free from your optician, can be applied. Alternatively, you can also use an unscented hand cream.

Tip: your optician can restore your frames with a professional cleaning or polishing.

Unfortunately, we do not have information regarding the our partner opticians’ inventories. We recommend that you ask your optician in advance if they have your desired model in stock. If not, your optician can simply order your preferred Lunor eyeglass frames from us on approval and, if you are not pleased with them, they can simply return them to us.

With a Lunor clip-on, you can transform your corrective frames into sunglasses with a single movement, without having to sacrifice your prescription. Are there any spare parts for my glasses?2023-06-29T09:28:15+00:00

Yes, we usually have spare parts for all of our eyewear models. And that even if they are already several years, sometimes even decades, old. Our handmade glasses are of the highest quality, so repairing them is almost always worth it. We firmly believe that repairing is more environmentally friendly than buying new glasses at short intervals. Your optician can order the spare parts directly from us.

I cannot find my glasses on the website, can I still order them from you?2023-09-18T07:22:01+00:00

If your favorite model is no longer available in our current collection, we can check if we still have it in stock, or whether we can help you to select similar Lunor eyeglasses from our current collection. Please note that the purchase of your frames is only possible through one of our partner opticians.

Which glasses are suitable for people with allergies?2023-09-18T07:24:31+00:00

There is a variety of suitable eyeglass options for people with contact allergies. Wearing comfort and tolerance to the materials take top priority in the selection of the correct glasses. People with allergies in particular should look for low-allergen materials.

Glasses made of high-quality cellulose acetate are a good choice for people with metal allergies. This bioplastic material is made of cotton and is generally harmless. All Lunor acetate eyeglasses are handcrafted from premium cellulose acetate and are ideal for people with metal allergies.

For people with allergies who are sensitive to nickel, eyeglass frames made of titanium are an ideal option. Titanium is anti-allergenic and light, but yet stable. Lunor offers a large selection of titanium frames.

Stainless steel is considered to be well tolerated by the skin and is used in our Lumag factory.

The critical factor is the electroplating, i.e. the surface coating of glasses. Allergen-free materials like gold or palladium should be used for this. All eyeglass frames from Lunor are electroplated without the use of nickel. Our stainless steel frames are additionally sealed with a protective coating.

All metal frames from Lunor are fitted with the original Lunor titanium nose pads. They do not tarnish, they do not discolor and they are usually well suited for people with allergies.

It is advisable to contact an experienced optician when choosing the correct glasses for people with allergies. They can offer individual consultation and select the appropriate glasses, taking individual allergies into consideration.

Do your glasses contain nickel?2023-09-18T07:25:15+00:00

Thanks to our transparent manufacturing process and the complete traceability of all individual parts and materials, we are happy to provide you with reliable information on the materials we use.

The titanium that we use for our titanium frames is completely nickel-free, just like our electroplating.

Stainless steel is an alloy that inherently contains a small amount of nickel. At Lunor however, we use stainless steel with an extremely low nickel content. We place special emphasis on the processing of the surface since this comes in direct contact with the skin. For this, we use no nickel in the electroplating and also apply a protective coating.

Why can’t I send my broken glasses directly to you?2023-09-18T07:27:56+00:00

Your optometrist knows your eyes and your needs for premium eyewear better than anyone. He can usually carry out repairs quickly and easily on site and often even has the right spare parts in stock. If the lens of your glasses needs to be re-fitted due to a repair, only your optician can guarantee that it will fit perfectly and that you will have perfect vision again. He will also check the fit of your glasses right away and can make adjustments.

How do I care for my Lunor acetate frame?2023-09-18T07:28:23+00:00

Clean your Lunor acetate frames regularly with the cleaning cloth provided or another suitable, soft eyeglass cleaning cloth. You can also clean your frame with clear water and a little ph-neutral dishwashing detergent if necessary.

All Lunor acetate frames are made of high-quality cellulose acetate. Through daily usage or contact with skin, sweat, makeup, etc., they can become discolored or misshapen. For this reason, you should avoid exposing your eyeglasses to high temperatures whenever possible (in the sauna, on the dashboard, …) and avoid contact with salt or chlorine water and other aggressive substances. If your frames become misshapen or show deposits, an optician can restore them to perfect condition with professional cleaning and readjustment.

If you have matt Lunor acetate frames, after cleaning you should always apply the free care cream provided. Be sure to avoid the lenses. If you do not have the care cream at hand, you can also use mild, unscented hand cream. You can get the care cream, free of charge, from your Lunor partner optician.

How do I care for my Lunor titanium frame?2023-09-18T07:29:31+00:00

Titanium is extremely lightweight, yet strong and resistant while also being flexible. Among allergy sufferers, titanium is the most popular metal because it is nickel-free andanti-allergic. Titanium is also biocompatible and recyclable, making it a highly environmentally friendly material. Cleaning your titanium frame is also extremely uncomplicated. You can clean them regularly with the cleaning cloth provided. Every now and then you can clean your frame under clear water and if necessary a small amount of ph-neutral dishwashing detergent. Be sure to dry the frame thoroughly and gently with a soft cloth afterwards.

How do I care for my Lunor stainless steel frame?2023-09-18T07:31:20+00:00

All Lunor stainless steel frames are manufactured in our own Lumag factory on the edge of the Black Forest. By purchasing a Lunor stainless steel frame, you are supporting our eyewear makers in cultivating the knowledge and craftsmanship of traditional eyewear manufacturing in Germany. Stainless steel is an extremely durable material, which will give you many years of enjoyment. It is perfectly suited for people with allergies and is either electroplated by us without nickel, or coated. Cleaning your stainless steel glasses is also extremely uncomplicated. You can clean them regularly with the cleaning cloth provided. Every now and then you can clean your frame under clear water and if necessary a small amount of ph-neutral dishwashing detergent. Be sure to dry the frame thoroughly and gently with a soft cloth afterwards.

How do I care for my Lunor horn frames?2023-09-18T07:32:06+00:00

The care of your genuine horn frames depends on how often you wear them and which environmental factors they are exposed to. You will receive a special care cream along with your buffalo horn frames. If the frames get dry, you should apply a thin layer of the cream. You can tell that the horn is dry if it become less glossy and the surface feels rough. Be sure to avoid the lenses when applying the cream. Afterwards, simply polish them gently with a soft cloth to maintain the glossiness and value of your frames over the long term.

You can use the microfiber cloth provided to clean your eyeglass lenses. Be sure to first remove any dust or dirt from the lenses and the cloth to avoid scratches. If you would like to clean the lenses with water, please only use a damp microfiber cloth. Avoid cleaning them under running water.

Your optician can of course also support you in cleaning your frames and lenses. It is advisable to have your horn-rimmed glasses professionally polished and checked from time to time.

Please note that excessively high temperatures, humidity or aggressive cleaning agents can damage your horn-rimmed glasses. Never use an ultrasonic bath to clean the frames. Do not bend the frames yourself and do not put weight on them.

How can I extend the lifetime of my glasses?2023-09-18T07:32:39+00:00

To get as many years of enjoyment out of your Lunor frames as possible, be sure to care for your glasses well and clean them regularly. From time to time, you can bring them to your optician to be checked or cleaned and, if necessary, for a new adjustment to ensure optimal wearing comfort. Do not try to repair your frames yourself, tighten screws, or the like. Your optician has the experience and necessary tools for this. Do not expose your frames to extreme temperatures or aggressive substances (e.g. cleaning agents, chlorine or salt water).

How do I use the care cream?2023-09-18T07:34:11+00:00

The Lunor care cream was developed especially for matt acetate frames. When the surface is matted, it becomes rough and is therefore more susceptible to discoloration than high-gloss polished frames. The Lunor care cream seals and cares for the acetate, thereby helping prevent deposit buildup. Apply a thin layer of care cream after each cleaning, being sure to avoid the lenses.

Do my glasses need to be serviced?2023-09-18T07:34:48+00:00

There is no generally recommended service interval for glasses. Whether and how often eyeglasses should be checked by an experienced optician is dependent on their age, as well as on how often and how roughly they are worn. Your optician can, from time to time, professionally clean, polish and restore your frames. Furthermore, they can check for the correct fit of your glasses and adjust them, if necessary.
